ABOUT US

Wakeman Camp sits at the mouth of the Wakeman River, surrounded by mountains and the quiet waters of Wakeman Sound. It offers a simple, remote place to stay in the wilderness. The two restored cabins can be rented spring-fall as basic, off-grid accommodation for work crews, cultural groups, research teams or anyone who needs a quiet base. Each cabin has a kitchen, refrigeration, bathrooms, hot running water and solar-powered wireless internet.
The cabins have a unique history. The “school house” cabin began in the early 20th century as a one-room school for the small, scattered communities that grew around local logging. In the 1960s it became the watchman’s cabin for the Wakeman logging camp. Winters here were harsh, and over the years loggers, families and travellers have all used the buildings, leaving their mark on the place.
The Wakeman Valley itself is part of the traditional territory of the Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation (KHFN). For generations KHFN families fished, hunted, gathered and lived here with respect for the land and waters. That knowledge still guides how the valley is cared for today. Visitors are asked to come with respect and curiosity about its deeper story.

Whatever brings you to the Wakeman Valley, we have all your accommodation needs met at Wakeman Camp. You can rest assured that we have all you need for a comfortable stay.
